Our History

JCS Express was founded in September, 1987 by James C. Sims. Following extensive experience with large international courier companies, Jim identified a market need for a more responsive and knowledgeable domestic courier service that could provide same-day movement nationwide. Initially, assignments came from national companies requiring a better “Just-in-Time” service in the Northeast of Scotland, where the oil industry was booming.

A subsequent partnership with a world class logistics company gave us the opportunity to provide a door-to-door service throughout the UK and Europe, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We were able to consistently demonstrate reliability, service, quality and commitment, not only to our customers, but even more importantly, to their customers as well.

Our business grew further when we added a contract with a major German auto manufacturer that provided a time-sensitive parts distribution service to their UK dealer network, including Northern Ireland and the Offshore Islands. Our reputation for quality service and competitive pricing grew significantly, and on this foundation we explored other avenues to continue the growth of our company.

In early 1998, we were appointed to manage the requirements of the client’s newly launched “through-the-night” delivery service for their Scottish dealer network. Key to this new service was JCS Express’ ability to reliably achieve the required level of service excellence, especially across the challenging Scottish geographical landscape.

Today, JCS Express has an extensive fleet of trucks, including temperature controlled vehicles, and a staff of more than 30 people who continue to assure that our customers’ expectations are exceeded every single day.
